Welcome to our family blog! We are missionaries in Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil with the Brazil Inland Mission. We arrived here on September 26, 2007. During our first year, our primary objective is to learn the Portuguese language and to adjust to our new culture. David will be teaching at the Thompson Theological Seminary, to train students to be future pastors, teachers and missionaries. He will also be working with students to reach lost people for Christ and starting new churches. (see About our Ministry for more information.)
About David:
David has completed eleven years of vocational ministry, having served as a youth minister of Greenhill Community Baptist Church, and pastor of Old Union Southern Baptist Church and Ebenezer Baptist Church, all of Arkansas. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Mid-American Baptist Seminary, in Memphis, TN, and an undergraduate degree in Christian Studies from Wayland Baptist University. David received Christ as Savior when he was twelve years old. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he met Tina while stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He realized God’s call to missionary service in 1992, during preparations to travel to Russia on his first short term trip. Tina and David were married on November 14, 1992. Dave has since been on short term mission trips to India, Brazil and Zimbabwe.
About Tina:
Tina became a Christian when she was eight years old. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University, with a major in Human Services. She worked for the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home as Girls Case Manager for six years. Tina has traveled on short term mission trips to Russia, Kenya, and China, all of which strengthened her call to career missionary service.
It was great to hear from ya’ll… please say Hi to everyone and to all our brothers and sisters “in Christ” in Brazil !
