Dave got to do one of his favorite things on our birthday weekend – preach the Word of God! He preached the 27th anniversary services of Moriah Baptist Church on Friday night, Saturday night, and both Sunday services. This picture was taken on Sunday, his birthday night…
The kids wanted another ten layer cake for our birthday celebration like we made last year. Because I am getting old, I forgot how much work that was, so I said okay!
Christine and I spent all day Saturday making it, thinking we were going to eat it on Sunday afternoon. However, that night we were all hungry for it, so we decided not to wait!
Here is a picture of Christine working on the cake.
Actually, it would have been a ten layer cake, but we messed up on one of the cakes, so it ended up being an 8 layer cake! (We baked 5 cakes to cut them in half lengthwise to make 10 layers, but one of the cakes did not come out of the pan right.)
Here is a picture of my piece of cake (one of them anyway). We alternated chocolate and yellow cakes. In between the layers of cake is a super delicious coconut filling! Each piece has to be cut in thin slices, because it is tall, and it will fill you up fast!
We enjoyed three full days of eating cake for dessert after every meal! (Last year we invited friends over to share it with, but this year there just wasn’t time since we were busy with the church.)
Oh, and here is Sammy eating one of the many s’mores he made with the marshmallows, graham crackers and Hershey’s candy bars from a care package that arrived the day before my birthday. (Thanks, Sis and fam!)
We had a great birthday, and we are truly thankful for all the blessings God has bestowed upon us!

Happy Birthday Tina and Dave! It looks like you guys had another wonderful celebration!
God’s timing is always the best! I couldn’t have arranged for the package to arrive at a better day than the 25th. You know how I am about getting things in the mail….
Anyways, I love you guys very much! I miss you and pray that God continues to bless your ministry in Brazil.
Love you tons,
Denise
